2023: the year of romanticizing your life

2023 is giving main character energy. This year is the year for chasing more than an aesthetic; instead of living the "clean girl, it girl" aesthetic for one day, make each day 1% better than the last and build on the small habits; after all, it is the small habits that add up, and in no time, you will be living the "clean girl, it girl" aesthetic, life.

TikTok trends have exploded in the last year, teaching us to romanticize everyday activities rather than saving "special" outfits or "special" perfumes for "special" occasions, which makes a lot of sense in light of the COVID pandemic: why keep all my hot outfits hidden away, for a day that may never come? Let’s be honest: getting yourself ready for a hot girl walk, with an overpriced drink and smelling like baccarat rouge, is worth romanticising.

2023 makeup trends are predicted to be the minimalistic "no makeup" makeup look. A skin tint or light coverage foundation, minimum powder to set under the eyes, no contour, a flush of bronzer across the skin, and a "babydoll" blush under the eyes, through to the apples of the cheeks. Lip oils are still the IT girl item to have in your makeup bag - especially for those hot girl walks. However, for something a little more glam, opt for a skin tint or tinted lip balm.

Pilates is here to stay; if you don’t know, get to know! This is the year for getting your sh*t together, putting both your mental and physical health first, reading to expand knowledge, making more meaningful connections, and saying goodbye to those who no longer serve us. Spending more time in nature and expressing gratitude for everything—there is so much for us to be grateful for.

Romanticizing your life is definitely a form of mindfulness, and I believe that it can be incredibly beneficial.
